Essential Function Description
The Manager, Origination Team, shall source acquisition opportunities in the Japanese secondary PV market and
originate non-FiT PV projects and battery storage projects. The Manager also manages the due diligence
process of those opportunities and evaluates and analyzes them, coordinates with the different functions of the
Company and the third parties for due diligence, gets the necessary approvals from the Company and its investor
(i.e. Sonnedix Group), closes them, and supports in the integration phase.
Key Competencies
• Self-starter, capable of conducting the PDCA cycle independently, good negotiation/communication skills, basic knowledge
about finance and investment, stress tolerance, and motivation to keep growing.
• Track record of leading the origination and development of projects, if possible, Experiences in negotiations,
execution, and closing of the investment/project development in the energy industry, if possible
• Understanding of the Japanese energy market (such as Electricity, Gas, Storage, Electricity trading))
• Knowledge about PV is not necessarily required initially but needs to be swiftly learned after joining.
Key Accountabilities
• Conduct the pre-screening of the acquisition and origination opportunities and identify any elements
that might block or fail the opportunity before starting the due diligence process.
• Look for, evaluate, and coordinate with advisors if required, to be involved in the acquisition of the
opportunities and develop the new opportunities.
• Develop relationships with stakeholders, such as landowners, utilities, authorities, consultants,
partners, customers to improve the company's business capability.
• Take initiatives to find offtakers of electricity for new projects and negotiate/execute PPAs.
• Lead the due diligence process of the opportunities, working together with other staff in the Company.
• Be involved in the financial modeling of identified targets to come up with a fair purchase price
assessment.
• Regularly report to the Head of the team and the other functions as needed
• Lead the preparation and the completion, together with the other functions, of the Investment Memos
forming the base of the approval process from the Investor.
• Negotiate the acquisition contracts or various other contracts to originate the opportunities and lead
closing of transactions, including coordination with the Finance team of the Company for payment
arrangement.
• Support the different functions after the closing during the integration period.
• Manage all the reporting activities related to the acquisition and origination including the regular
updated decks and tables for the management of the Company and the Investor, together with the
Head of the team.
• Support the Project Finance Team ensuring that all acquisition opportunities are financially sustainable.
• Define and implement optimal acquisition and origination strategies for the Company in
coordination with members of the team as well as with other functions, working in partnership with the
Investor (Sonnedix Group). Support other functions as necessary in order to achieve the goals of the
Company.

• Location is our Tokyo office with periodic travel to domestic project sites,

Education and Experience
• Experience in creating strategies for new businesses and leading the execution in the energy industry if
possible.
• Leading business/project development, etc. Business development at general trading companies,
strategy consulting firms, investment Banks.
• M&A and Finance Experience
• Empathy for the purpose of renewable energy, cultural fit
• Japanese native level
• Good English both written and verbal.
• Good Excel, Word, Power Point skills, ability to develop documents (spreadsheets, memos, and
presentations) in professional standards.
• University degree holder in a relevant field (engineering, business, economics, finance, law, etc)
